North Allegheny hosted the Penn Hills Indians on Friday night in their home opener of the 2025 season. The Tigers started their home schedule off with a bang, pitching their second straight shutout and topping the Indians 35-0.
NA elected to receive the opening kickoff and drove 54 yards in nine plays to open the scoring on a Brady Brinkley two-yard touchdown run.
Penn Hills only managed a three-and-out and punted the ball right back to North Allegheny. The Tigers’ offense kept the momentum going, once again driving 54 yards, this time in five plays, capped off by a Brinkley 23-yard touchdown pass to Luke Rohan on a screen. Both teams would put together eight-play drives on their next possession, but each possession ended with missed field goals, and NA led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Both defenses locked in during the second period as neither team could crack the scoresheet in the first 11 minutes. With 1:38 remaining in the half, the Tiger defense caused a massive turnover when Cameron Kushner forced a fumble that was recovered by Caden Petro. The NA offense got the ball 29 yards from the end zone and with 36 seconds left, Rohan found pay dirt from 20 yards out to shift the momentum. The Tigers had a 21-0 lead going into halftime.
The opening kick of the third quarter was returned 96 yards by Penn Hills, but a block below the waist penalty called it back, keeping the score at 21-0. After the penalty, the Indians ended up punting. The Tigers started to wear down the Penn Hills defense, putting together an 11-play, 62-yard drive that took over six minutes. The sequence ended with Brinkley finding Cameron Kushner on a four-yard touchdown pass to increase the lead to 28-0. The North Allegheny defense forced another turnover late in the third quarter when Ryan Logan recovered a Penn Hills fumble.
Early in the fourth quarter, Kellan Frank found the end zone from 26 yards out to pad the Tiger lead to 35-0 and ultimately put the game out of reach.
Rohan was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game with 145 total yards and a rushing and receiving touchdown.
Frank finished with 65 rushing yards and a touchdown. Brinkley was 8-for-17 for 83 yards and two passing touchdowns. Kushner led the Tigers in receiving with three catches for 31 yards and a score.
Lincoln Hoke led the NA defense with seven tackles and 1.5 sacks. Owen Urschler had six tackles, two of them in the backfield. Frank added six tackles while Nate Orlando had five.
North Allegheny improves to 3-0 overall. Penn Hills falls to 0-3. The Tigers open conference play next week when they host Hempfield on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Newman Stadium. This game will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
